He also represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest and I think wrote another of their entries (Ireland used to take Eurovision REALLY seriously).
I first encountered him/them in 1992 during my first ever trip to Dublin.
I was in a (decidedly seedy) nightclub called "Strings" in Leeson Street, Scottish rugby players Gavin Hastings and Doddie Weir also rocked up......but that's another story..........when the DJ played "Summer in Dublin".
I was in the company of a devine young lady called Sonja (Sonia with a J......) and that song just sealed the ambience of the evening.
That was the start of a decade long love affair with the city of Dublin and the wider Emerald Isle, though sadly I never saw Sonja again.
