Arrived in Amsterdam ready for tomorrow. No surprises, except the houseboat we are staying on is smaller than it looked in the photos!
I know what to expect, but I also don't know what to expect, if that makes any sense at all. I hope that as soon as the opening bars of No Surrender kick in, I will be transported as others have said.
Back home after a great trip. I hope everyone going to Edinburgh has as good a time as we did.
Well, what can I say? I'm still in love with him! The moment he walked on stage I was overcome with emotion and the years just fell away. In 42 years, he hasn't let me down, so why did I think he would do that now?
I thought the opening was incredibly strong and the atmosphere was electric. Kitty & Nightshift killed it for a while (at least that was our view) a lot of people visited the bar and took loo breaks, but once the atmosphere built up again, it was phenomenal. As it got darker (the roof was closed, but it lets in lots of daylight) the light show was really excellent and added a new dimension. BITUSA was one of the best live versions I have heard, I lost it completely during TR and, basically cried throughout and it's still my favourite song in the world ever! I'm not sure there is ever a better few minutes in a rock show than when BTR is played and, whilst Detroit Medley is not my favourite, it did go down a storm! Dreams is the perfect ending and then it was over.
Sure, I can quibble with the set list, why play Kitty, Nightshift, Mary's Place when he could play Racing, Jesus Was a Sheriff, Point Blank etc etc, but its his show, they are his songs, so let it be.
Sure, the old Bruce would have mentioned floods when he played in Italy, would have played a tribute to Tina Turner yesterday, but he didn't, so let that go too.
He's an entertainer, that's his job, and he's Simply The Best, with apologies to Tina!
I’d love to think this was a deliberate two fingers to the characters who bull-doze out of prime pit position to secure similar for the next night. Particularly disrespectful given Freeze Outs significance, but I suppose arseholes are always gonna be arseholes.
SURPRISE!
Do you think he might do a Tina Turner cover tonight asks Dave?!!! Well, the old Bruce might have...
By my reckoning this is thirty-seven BTW.
Are you going to both or just the first AJ?
Loving the idea of a Houseboat in Amsterdam.
I’m sure you will be. Have yourself a great time! And you’ll have this to look forward to too:
I’m guessing he’s popular in Ireland? Tickets on sale 10am Friday via his website. Had there been a show a bit closer I’d have taken a punt, I think.
