It breaks my heart to have to tell you that Rosiejaneymary (Marsha) died yesterday. She was a very regular poster on GL and one of the kindest people I have met there.
She loved Bruce so much, her glasses were an even deeper shade of rose than mine! A genuine Jersey Girl.
She had been ill for a while and was diagnosed with a form of Motor Neurone Disease a few months ago.
I hope she can get home soon. On a separate note…has anyone from old days heard anything from or about Brilliant Disguise / Jackie? I occasionally peek at GL to check, but no posts in long time.
Heard from Rachel again today. She had hoped to fly home on 16th but surgeons are not happy yet to let her go. Her incision isn't healing amongst other issues. She has to have an MRI and more blood tests.
On a brighter note, Jarod has a show with Jake in a couple of weeks, so she hopes to get home after that. Madam Marie is visiting this weekend, having been unable to go the last time she planned due to the weather.
Text from Rachel today sounding much improved. She can't fly until 16th, but is in less pain and able to go out and about a bit. She is going to the Stone Pony this evening and Jarod has a show at the Wonder Bar tomorrow, both of which she is looking forward to. Also meeting up with Madam Marie on Sunday, so there will probably be an update on GL.
I see she has Tweeted she is on the mend and Jarod is taking care of her.
I had a chat with Rachel. The poor kid needs beans on toast. With cheese.
Well, if she's craving tea she's obviously feeling a wee bit better.
Poor kid, I really feel for her. Particularly as these post-Marsha trips must be emotional events in their own right.
Received your email, Ann. I'll send her a text tomorrow, so long as she knows you've given me the contact info.
Rachel texted yesterday evening to say she has been discharged from hospital but cannot fly home for another two weeks. She is still in some pain, but has medication for that. She's desperate to see her mum and have a cup of English tea!
OK thanks AJ.
I have heard from Rachel. She sounds very poorly but I don't want to post too much here as its a public forum. If anyone wants more into, my email is firstname.lastname@example.org
She is in Jersey Shore University Medical Centre, Neptune NJ07753.
I think sending cards/letters is best at the moment as we don't know how long she might be in.
She is really grateful for everyone's support.
Also, if she doesn't have people to talk to, she can call me any time and I'll tell dumb jokes and talk about Bruce and Jersey. I think she knows I'm not a creepy type of old guy. Also would be happy to play a phone game with her to help fight boredom. Little things I can think of that I could do from Cali.
Yeah, I'd imagine she's in hospital on her holiday insurance and I'd assume, again, that she'll be out of the hospital as soon as she can be safely discharged.
If anyone can come up with any ideas, I'll certainly weigh in and do what I can to make it happen.
Flowers might be a shout if we can get the hospital/ward etc.
Aye, a girl I work with is having gall bladder issues, not pleasant.
Being so far from home must be a nightmare going through this.
I've been racking my brains for something we could do to give her a boost.
AJ, did you get the name of the hospital she's in?
Maybe we could send her a gift of some description?
Not at all sure how practical that would be.....I. just so gutted for her, poor lassie.
It is, apparently, a gall bladder problem, which I know from friends can be extremely painful.
If the kid has to be in the hospital, I hope it's at least in Jersey.
Awful news, but thanks for sharing.
Thanks AJ, poor kid.
If there's anything we can do, or if anyone can come up with anything that we can do, to help, just holler.
I had a What's App from her yesterday. I don't know exactly what is wrong, but she definitely ended up in hospital in America (not sure whether NYC or NJ) needing surgery. She sounds pretty bad to be honest, in a lot of pain, not allowed visitors, which I assume is because of Covid, and is just desperate to get home. Poor girl, she was so excited to be going back to NJ.
If I hear any more I will let you know.
Hey everyone, I popped onto the old place looking for updates from Rach's latest East Coast adventures and, from what I glean, she's in hospital having undergone surgery.
Looks like she had Covid, had to stay on in the States, then took further ill and needed surgery.
Apologies if I have any of that wrong but whatever the deal, get yourself healthy Young Un.
Anyone heard from her?
I noticed on Marsha's thread on the other place that Rach is Jersey bound again, if you clock this Young Un, let's see some pics of the bench. 👍
