@Jerseyfornia The original arcade version of Donkey Kong is one of my simple pleasures. I spent hours on that game back in the 80's. About 5 or 6 years ago, I went to a 40th birthday party where the host had hired a couple of table top 80's arcade game consoles. When I discovered that one of them included Donkey Kong (and all four levels at that), that was it... my socialising for the night was done. I was a bit rusty at first, but like getting back on a bike, it came back pretty quickly...
@Jerseyfornia Yeah, but actually sitting at one of those old style arcade game 'tables' and playing Donkey Kong was something else. That was beyond nostalgia... it was more akin to one of those body swap movies where someone older ends up in a younger body... it was like my adult self was a kid again. Nostalgia is seeing the Chequered Love film clip and reliving my crush on Kim Wilde in a misty eyed way... sitting at the exact same type of game machine literally playing the same game I did 30 plus years later was different, somehow.
A perfect, flowing section of single track, hitting every apex and berm perfectly, testing the limits of grip, a mate's back wheel millimeters from your front, another mate millimeters from your back wheel, total trust between you.
Can't You Hear Me Knocking played as loud as the sound system will go before distorting.
Making someone really laugh out loud at something funny I've said.
On a Friday after work, or Saturday afternoon after the chores are all done, relaxing with some Bruce and a nice beer.
About three hours (and more beers later), pouring a Wild Turkey and drunk posting on Across The Border.
Barbecuing in the backyard with family around.
Staring at the ocean. Whether a rugged coastline with pounding waves, or a quiet beach with hardly any waves, or at the end of a jetty (pier for most of you)... I can stare at the ocean for hours.
Extension of the above... sunsets over / into the ocean. Adelaide is on a west facing shoreline, so I've grown up with sunsets over the sea. It can be quite disorientating visiting places with east facing coasts, where the sun rises over the sea.
Sitting at the patio table on a Saturday/Sunday morning 7am until about 9am before all the activity starts in the neighborhood, coffee and a Book. Even my wife knows not to come out and sit with me.
Birds all around, deer walking though the common ground, even a fox or two.
@Jerseyfornia when i was a kid they were just muffins as American muffins were not something we ever came across. I guess American muffins started to appear in the late 70's and now it's more usual for American ones to just be called muffins and the originals English muffins. I am trying to think whether they are branded as English muffins, but I don't think they are - will check this out next time I am shopping.
The other item which must be drenched in butter is, of course, a crumpet, which we used to call pikelets...
@Louisa What do your dog's paws smell like? My lat dog Rocky had paws that smelled exactly like popcorn balls. I've heard dog owners mention Chitos. My pitbull Mel has paws that smell like paws.
The scent of hyacinths - a sure sign that spring is on its way.

BTW I live quite near the Glenmorangie distillery
I forgot: a decent measure of whisky (Glenmorangie preferred) in the late afternoon.
I'm going to add walking by water - sea, river, lake.
I'll add seeing a post from @berlintramp to my list.
Cat snuggeling up close in the morning before getting up (sadly, no cat right now)
Birds deliriously greeting the sun on a summer morning at three am
The first piping hot mug of tea after getting up
Champagne breakfast
Singing along to Bruce at the top of my voice while driving
Hours of uninterrupted reading
Cooking something new and delicious at the spur of the moment
This is a Bruce forum right? If weather permits, come out of the office, open all windows and sunroof in car, blast Bruce all the way home.
