Not quite banned on the other side but apparently came close this week so thought I would seek somewhere else to put out my usual drivel, that's if you will have me of course.
Exactly what did happen on the lake to make everyone leave. I was on a break which over the last few years I had done more and more. I had not looked at the lake for months and when I returned the shit had hit the fan. I subsequently found out that JF had been shut down and came back with another ID and then left. I found that amusing as I openly admitted that I used to have at least three other user names over the years. These weren’t one offs. One of them I used to share with someone else (who no longer bothers with the lake) and I think we posted at least 7000 times under that disguise. Quite funny because we used to have three way open conversations using the third wheel to set up jokes and stir the pot. Anyway will someone please enlighten me as to what really happened.
I’m sure most will have a slightly different story as to the how’s and why’s they left. I think one common denominator for many will be tied back to the lake ‘mods’.I’ve told my story a time or two…but in a nutshell I was banned in part for ‘stalking’. The stalking thing was tied directly to my reporting a political post made by a Mod twice. The second time after I received no response to the first. These were the only two times I reported a post…and they branded me a Stalker and banned me for it.To me the old FC was as integral part of that community as the main board. Unfortunately some people were big crybabies and that’s who the mods listened to the most.On a side note - your side/shared name thing is classic….great stuff and very much in the spirit of what that place once was and is no more. IMO of course.
Pretty much as Billy has said. I think for many of us the final straw was when they deleted all of JF's posts - his stories, even his cat thread.
To me the mods just seemed very inconsistent in who they censured. Personally I only had the odd post deleted but people who I like and respect were suspended when others seemed to able to say anything - light the touch paper and retire.
If fast-paced is your thing, you might get frustrated here... But if you like to take things, in the words of Tina, nice, and easy, then you should dig it the most, man.
Have a look around, lots of cool threads to get you going.
Sometimes on Greasy Lake, you almost had to hurry to post before someone else posted what you were going to post. Ran across a Bruce article on the web? Someone's already beat you to posting it. Thought up a funny response to a post? You were beat to the punch. Want to quote a post but before you could post your quote the original post was edited making you look like some kind of dumbass.
We don't have those worries here. There's time. Plenty of time. So much fucking time.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Had to join Richard I missed your stories.
This is the appearance of a legend.
Really good to see you here.
Hi Cabby.
Hey @Cabby 🙂
👋
Hey up.
Another close call have we? Did you make a political comment? A comment that happened to strike the mods in their mood as inappropriate?
Welcome to the dark side Cabby! 😁
