Interesting wee article.
What is our medium of choice?
My music consumption is largely "on the hoof" driving, walking, running etc. but I'm drawn to vinyl and I am buying same again.
I'm limiting myself mostly to limited edition/collectibles.
But still listen to mostly electronic formats.
It's Mr J's birthday today and he got the Let It Be vinyl box set from our son - he is beyond thrilled!!
At home, lying on the sofa, I prefer vinyl. I still like to look at the sleeve and, especially with something new, I like to read the lyrics and really absorb it all. That said, this is something which can't be done whilst I am cooking, driving, etc etc, so digital probably gets more plays.
As Mr Rat says though, the thrill of opening a new vinyl, the smell and feel of it, the sound of the needle hitting the disc, that's all magic to me.
I sometimes read books on kindle, but prefer a proper book.
I have everything digital, not even a CD player in the house anymore...
Books, I read both ways. Prefer printed, but love the accessibility of digital media. I want it all, and I want it now philosophy works for me..
What I specifically love is that music follows me around hassle-free. The Bluetooth settings set to start play when connected.... I don't even have to think about it. Boom. It continues.
My phone, I honestly don't know if I could live without a phone anymore... It does everything.
Books are the only media I still prefer in a physical format.
Yeah........me too.
And yet............. I recall getting Jesse's remastered "The Heat", the first new vinyl I'd bought in an age.
Opening the packaging, the smell.......the vinyl smell......the cover, the turntable.....swear to God I damn near got a boner.
I miss all the physical music I used to have on vinyl, then cassette and finally CD, but there's no going back for me. My lifestyle doesn't afford me the room for it. I've got a collection of thousands of albums that add up to over 70,000 tracks all in one tiny space, easily transferrable to my phone for portable listening or played via Bluetooth speaker at my campfire.
