It's worth listening to the first 10 minutes of the 'Obsessed with LOD' podcast interview with Jed Mercurio. I am now less cross about the ending than I was!
@whispered secret I was going to post some thing similar AJ, you couldn't argue with his logic at all.
I think there will be another series, I think Ted will come back in a different role.
I think something in will happen between Carmichael and the Welsh fella, the head honcho whose name escapes me.
Anyway, Ted and Carmichael (with one or both of Kate and Wee Compston) will end up working together to bring him down, while not really trusting each other, as he's been into naughty stuff beyond the Lawrence Christopher cover up.
@Brown Eyed Boy very disappointing conclusion. In the end I think H had to be somebody we cared about and felt we knew. I know Buckles has been in a few series, but he was never a prominent figure. Do we assume his progression up the greasy pole was facilitated by the Chief Constable?
Carmichael is either bent or a serious politician..........or , I suppose the third option is that she's playing some weird, deep cover, double bluff and is investigating both the Chief and Ted.
I'm sure Therlwell/Nesbitt appears next week also.
I could see both Ted and Wee Compston going out in a blaze of glory, if this is the last one.
Holiday weekend next, so defo watch live with wine.
Enjoyed it last night as usual but it was a bit of a holding episode, not really giving us much more in the way of clues. I'm with you on disliking Jimmy Nesbitt by the way, a photo is more than enough but I think he will appear next week.
Did Ted really say 'Mary, Joseph and the Holy Donkey' or did I mishear?
Jo is dead woman walking, I reckon she will be dead by next Sunday, which is a shame because she isn't a bad person at heart. I think she would have done better to have given up all she knows and go into witness protection.
Candidates for H are narrowed down to Carmichael (favourite) and the Chief Constable I think. Carmichael definitely didn't want Ted to pursue the line of questioning about H, why not? Also, is that why Jo would only go so far - if H is in the room she is hardly likely to give her up.
No idea what is going on in Spain, who the bodies are. One can't be JM - he wouldn't be in a programme just to appear as a mugshot! He must be in it next week surely.
I will listen to the podcast later today for more theories!
I now have my own copy of Radio Times (as opposed to second hand messages) and I can report that Jo, Ryan and Kate are all missing from the cast list. I doubt they are all dead!
@MagicRatAFC Mr J's theory is that Kate not being in the cast list is a typical Jed Mecurio distraction! He also said that it would be unfair to lose Vicky McClure and gain James Nesbitt (we aren't keen on JN!)
Have I missed something? Who the fuck is Jo's mum???
I don't think so, although you do have to wonder why she pulled all the surveillance. I listened to the podcast yesterday - I am definitely (or should that be definately) investing too much time on this! One person thought she is bent and the other that she has 'new broom' syndrome.
Seen on twitter.

Disappointing finale I felt. Hopefully a further series to really sort it all out.

Also, what's under the floor in the print shop?
So is it confirmed this is the last series?

On the podcast they seem to think Ted will go out in a blaze of glory, killed 'in the line of duty'. (Followed by a state funeral!)
I only slightly misheard!

Well, the comment about the "high homozygosity" I read someplace that's an indicator of the possibility of some level of in-breeding.
I'm guessing that will be revisited.
Kate not in the cast list for next week in Radio Times...
I'm off out with the dogs so the podcast is getting a whirl then.
Wow...... episode 5 in the books.
Wow.......
So, one question......is Carmichael bent?
Reckon I know who H is after last night. I'd love to post my theory but better not.
