If this is remotely accurate......there's really no words.
I believe Cummings was/is that big of an utter fucking wanker.
I believe Johnson was/is that big a simpleton.
I know nothing of Carrie Symonds, but if she married that complete illness then I could absolutely believe her to be that shallow and vacuous.
In short, I buy this....completely.
The Covid stuff.......I believe these would have played politics to that extent, totally.
What a horrible country we live in.
Finished all six episodes now, genuinely terrifying to think this could be remotely accurate, and yet......
Personally, I thought the "loveable idiot" portrayal of de pffefil, albeit interspersed with indicators of his insular entitlement, was a whitewash job.
It could have been more harsh in portraying the utter sewar of a human being that events have shown him to be.
Basically this was an indicator of the cesspool Westminster has become.
It ain't getting better any time soon.
It's on Sky Atlantic here so it'll most likely show up in time.
Hadn't even heard of it until just now. Doesn't seem to be streaming over here...hm...
Oh yes, "Our friends in the North" was class, an absolute behemoth of a show.
Look at the cast, the leads Gina McKee, Chris Ecclestone, Daniel Craig and Mark Strong.
What budget would you need to put that cast together these days?
Yup, watched the whole series and find no reason to doubt that most of it was a true represenation of what was going on.
Now, a more enjoyable box set for you to watch if you have not seen it before, first transmitted in the mid/late nineties, I loved it and it made a great impression on me, all nine episodes have just been on again on BBC4...."Our Friends In The North" was even more enjoyable second time around with some great performances (I just love Gina McKee), if you have never seen it, treat yourself.
