Massive club with a huge global presence - urgently needed to find a replacement for Aguero, yet failed to sign Messi, Kane or Ronaldo. What went wrong?
So here we had a match between two of the top teams from TGLITW*, very fittiing that the best two players in the winning team (Varane & Casemiro) are deemed not good enough to continue playing in La Liga...says it all really.
Q. Where do players go when they are no longer up to La Liga standard.
Nothing went wrong. Last year City won the league with out Aguero. City made one club keep an Unhappy player and another over pay and perhaps disrupt a locker room. Messi was never in the cards.
I'm afraid I just can't get remotely excited about the money ball league.
The renaming of the first division (with Murdoch's involvement) in 1992 was the beginning of the end for fitba.
Its an obscenity these days, there's an elite cabal of host organisms (I refuse to call them clubs) who have blackmailed and coerced the game's (already corrupt) governing bodies into abandoning any pretence at the concept of meritocracy.
Its a truly shite state of affairs, its depressing to watch the old games and see what a massive deal the FA Cup used to be.
Villa and Forest winning the league and European Cup, with cubs not from England, Spain Germany or Italy, indeed clubs not bloated by funding of dubious origin, in the latter stages of the three prized European trophies..........
