I don't think we're overburdened with NFL fans on here, but the first weekend of the NFL season is one of my favourite sporting times of the year.
I have a nice Malbec breathing, a few tinnies in the fridge, Gamepass subscription purchased, Monday off booked, looking forward to Denver playing my Jints at 925.
Interesting season looming, a few teams look potentially good, a lot of rookie QBs coming into the league and Brady to Gronk still a thing (as Thursday showed).
My team?
Who knows.
I think if Jones and LT Thomas, fourth overall pick remember, don't start hot, Gettleman's seat will be.
For now, everyone is level (except Dallas with one loss on the board 😁) and anything is possible.
Let's go Giants!!
Giants having some post season fun in the play-offs, I really didn't see this coming back in September.
Our coaching staff has wrung every ounce out of this roster.
I think next week at the Iggles might be a flight too close to the sun, but who knows.
This has been a fun season and I'm more optimistic than I've been in years.
So, my 4th ever Giants game in the flesh Sunday just gone, and they've won all four.
I'm defo a charm.
First up, a fun couple of days in That London.
I love the smoke, apart from the prices.....particularly the beer.
I'm still too scared to check my credit card statement.
Saturday....few pints with old friends then a very tasty Mexican meal in Covent Garden.
A one man pub crawl back to my digs in Victoria.
To the game on Sunday.....that stadium is just astonishing.
What a place.
Met up with some friends in a pub by the ground (£9.80 a pint....😵).
I also met a guy called Frank who lives in Asbury Park and saw Bruce play for the first time in 1975.
"He was much better in the small venues" was his unsurprising take on his live credentials.
He was over with his son Matt, just moved to Cleveland from Nashville, both diehard Jints.
To the game, great banter with the Green Bay fans, my voice still hasn't properly returned.
A team photo pre match, left to right, my Buddy Scott, his other half Vikki, Scott's mate Chris (Aberdeen fan, Giants fan, Bruce fan.......how was I only meeting him for the first time), Matt, Frank, Yours truly and a random Green Bay fan from Essex who's girlfriend took the picture. (@whispered secret a Wolves fan)
Really, really fun couple of days.
My recovery time ain't what it was but feeling a bit better after a run this p.m.
Giants are 4-1......didn't see that coming.
Happy as Larry though.
The Browns are still on the go, though there was a carry on a number of years ago when their owner tried to move the team to Baltimore.
After a convoluted legal farrago, their then owner started a new team in Baltimore and Cleveland kept all the rights to the Browns' name etc.
A couple of years later a new version of the Browns were back in the league.
The "Dawg Pound" was an area behind the endzone in their old stadium which has been replicated at their new place.
I don't know much about NFL. Do the Cleveland Brown's still exist? When they first started showing NFL games here at some ridiculous hour of the night in the mid 80's, all I remember is the Cleveland Browns playing at some place they nick named the 'Dog Pound' with all these spectators wearing hats with floppy dog ears and making barking noises. It was hilarious. Unless it was all some weird fever dream I had...
We're not great but we're 2-0.......that'll do for me.
NEW YORK GIANTS!!!!
I know in heaven Marsha is smiling wide tonight.
I didn't realise Jordan Fuller was Cindy Mizelle's son!
The Giants have been poor this season (no shit sherlock.....) but we're two really bad plays (Slayton drop v Washington, Adoree Jackson int drop v Atlanta) away from 3-1.
Dallas game will be interesting next week, I see us losing but another " Any Given Sunday" week next weekend who knows.
A few if the big boys seem to be mis-firing, interesting season coming.
And the Jets win too…unbelievable.
Washington win, Dallas win.....is the East a powerhouse again? 🤣
Football.........bloody hell!
I read your post and agreed 100%….then the Giants went out and won the game. Crazy!
Giants onto their fourth starting left guard of the season.
NO playing their first game of the season at home.
Shepherd and Slayton out.
This could get ugly tonight.
I have Mahomes in one of my fantasy teams, he's obviously struggling with the pressure.
If you told me the Chiefs would be 1-2 after 3 weeks, I would have said you were outta your mind…☹️
That's two weeks in a row I've bet a double on the teams playing the Giants and Aberdeen and won.
I think the odds on New Orleans and Celtic next week will make this not worthwhile.
It's depressing being a realist.
I do not see where the Jints' next win is coming from.
This has been a really interesting start to the season on a number of levels.
But for the two NY/NJ teams "Plus ca change........".
It’s looking like a long season for New York football fans. Ughh….but I still have the Chiefs (my first favorite team) to follow. Although that was a rough loss Sunday night.
A quote from Blackadder seems apposite.
" I made an entry in my diary today. It said "Bugger"."
