Usability issues with the forum

For some reason, I've been unable to log in on one of my computers for a few weeks now. At first it was just the Google login that didn't work, but I tried (for the first time) my Facebook login, and that DID. Then that stopped working too. It's on an iMac running the latest Chrome (I updated) and I cleared my cookies. I tried just logging in using my password, but I guess it got changed at some point, as that didn't work either, and when I requested a password reset, the email never came.

Is it something I said?

And the comment field should be at the bottom of the thread.

As MagicRat said in his post, the new default view for threads is not being enjoyed by anyone. Are you able to change it back to the previous default, which was OP on page 1 at top, then all comments in sequence from older to newest. I realize we can change the view manually ourselves, but it doesn't set it as a default. This isn't a technical issue, just a preference that seems widely shared.

Other than that, I haven't experienced any problems in a while.

For me, it's the sequencing of the threads that's the issue.

I think we're all used to a straight "old to new" format.

The new to old with the replies interspersed and attached to the thread to which they're replying makes it hard to follow sequentially.

This is OK, IMHO, until we get beyond a page.

Lengthy threads, like the "story" thread, became impossible to follow.

Also, and this is personal preference on my part, I don't like the original post being at the top of each page in multipage threads.

Again, speaking personally, I prefer a straight "old to new" chronological format, no hidden posts, no posts out of sequence, just straight old to new.

Just my tuppence worth, I accept it's a lot down to personal preference, and what we're used to.
