Made it unscathed, bar a mild hangover the morning of the 26th. Pretty quiet time tbh. Sarah finished the Christmas jigsaw yesterday while I lolled on the sofa maintaining a mutually agreed playlist. We were pretty restrained gift-wise due to impending move. I’d dropped hints re ‘Windswept & Interesting’, Billy Connolly’s autobiography, and they paid off, so I’ll be delving into that and a Shackleton bio from my sister once I finish my current book. Christmas dinner was pretty damn good: salmon rosti to start, beef wellington with roasties, pigs in blankets, sprouts with bacon and chestnuts, and roast parsnips. Chocolate bread and butter pud with ice cream to finish. No pics I’m afraid.

@Walkerinthesun what no Christmas Pud?? Modesty almost prevents me from saying that my pud this year was extremely good. I can't post any pictures as they all feature at least one of the children and it's more than my life is worth to post a picture of any of them on a public forum!

I am impressed that Sarah has completed the jigsaw - I will start mine, which is neither large nor especially challenging when we get to Cornwall tomorrow.

I hadn't watched the video in years and I enjoyed it - brought back memories. Mr J worked in the music industry back then and I remember him feeling pretty proud that his industry did this.

@Jerseyfornia I'm not a smoker but have a few mates who are / were. Can't say I've seen that, but here in Australia saying 'having a cone' is just generic speak for smoking a pipe from what I've seen / heard.

When I was working at a resort in palm Springs in the 90s, we had a bunch of staff come over from one of our Dutch hotels. Used to party with them a lot and they all rolled cone shaped joints.

I've noticed now when I see pre-rolls in the dispensary, they're cone-shaped.

@Jerseyfornia I wouldn't be surprised if the term originated as being in reference to the cone shaped joints you describe as that would make sense, but certainly here it's not used specifically in reference to anything like that.

But as I said, very limited personal experience in these matters. I'd barely make it to my second hand counting the times I've been stoned. The last time was at an Aussie Rules football game. These are played in quarters of roughly twenty five minutes length. A mate gave me a smoke near the start of the game. I was having a blissfully happy time. The siren went, I checked the scoreboard, my team had won. Except it was only quarter time. I could've sworn 2 hours had passed, but it was only 20 minutes. It actually freaked me out a bit.

Hence, I stick to the drinks now to get a buzz on, I retain a better sense of time and space just on the juice LOL.
