I have received a reply from Blackwells. The list price for the de luxe edition is £360, they are selling it for £316.80. They have no information about what is included but, at this price, I am sure it will be vinyl copies of the podcasts, probably with a few more bits added. We know a vinyl is being produced because of the raffle prize Waterstones are offering.
Much as I love him, there is no way I am forking out for this!
The Norton interview was actually OK. Apologies to the host for my comments above. (Pretty sure he lurks on here under a pseudonym….)Nothing you won’t know but an amiable enough chat, and those White House parties sound fantastic!
First world problems and all that! Amazon have it at £17.50 but then I checked Blackwells (as I would rather support them) and they have it at £21 but are also showing a de luxe edition due out on 7th December - anyone know anything about this? No details on the website about what extras there might be or how much it costs!
That deluxe edition sounds interesting - 🙏 let it include a cd of whatever is on the uber limited vinyl. Let us know if you get to the bottom of what it includes.
@Walkerinthesun I have sent an email to Blackwells to ask so will see if I get a response. If I don't I will try asking Phil at Badlands. Even though they aren't advertising it, he might know. I don't want to fork out my pennies on the book now if the de luxe edition is worth waiting for.
Having said I would wait until Christmas to get the book, I wandered into Waterstones for a quick look. Came back and said to Mr J that I didn't think I could wait that long! A quick eye roll and 'I never thought you could!'
Looking to see if I can get a better price although I rather fancy going into the prize draw for a copy signed by them both and a vinyl copy of the original podcasts which Waterstones are offering.
Some of the best interviews I've ever seen have been on Norton, because he does have the knack of relaxing the guests and letting them know he won't blindside or ambush them. I love Parky, he was the best. But he did do that from time to time. You also see it with the big names who love to go back on Norton over and over. Tom Cruise is the one who comes to mind immediately. But having said that, I also got the impression Graham knew little about Bruce when he was on... I do also hope he has done a bit more homework this time.
Must admit, I've never seen an entire episode, but I really like watching Graham Norton clips. Perhaps because, maybe somewhat problematically, he seems to get his guests drunk, thus loosening their inhibitions.
I guess all of us in the U.K. know Bruce & Obama are on Graham Norton's Show this evening? Last time Bruce was on with Robert DeNiro I thought Norton was awful - very poorly prepared, so I'm hoping for better this time.
Although, if I posted there I would respond to Jertucky and ask him what he means by his downright disgusting comment that Bruce has made millions of his mentally ill father? Like he set out to make money that way, again, fuck off.
@whispered secret If you read that thread Ann you may put a lot more people on ignore, if you still even visit that is. It's repulsive, beyond the hypocritical aspect of it, I don't understand why some of those people are there, they seemingly despise Bruce, the same suspects who jump at threads like that one.
I commented on this on the No Nukes thread, hadn't noticed this discussion.
I just don't see the see the point in getting worked up.
There's always been an underbelly of absolute dregs on that place, as you say, people that seem to actively dislike Bruce.
I don't get that mentality, the need to go on a message board dedicated to someone for whom they have deep antipathy.
I guess it's largely down to the two-team political mentality that subsists.
And that they can't get past their beloved country electing a " commy n****r", even though he's right wing and mixed race, but not knowing how racist terminology works.........and that he's friends with Bruce.
You got here before me Scott P, honestly, someone ought to write to Karsten or something and tell him just how fucked up his site is with respect to his moderation team. Most of us are here because there's no politics allowed and one member here, hey BillyB, even got banned for reporting a mod! You can't make this shit up.
Well, no one probably would give a shit enough to waste any time on messaging Karsten who won't give a fuck anyway, I sure as hell wouldn't, but I guess my larger point is that those fuckers will never see the forest for the trees insofar as how just fucking hypocritical they truly are.
So glad there's no politics allowed over at Greasy, nothing like a whole thread dedicated to their book with the hypocritical mods joining in. Anyway, getting more excited and I can't think of a more brilliant pairing to write a book together.
This will look great on my book shelf, and even better out on the coffee table whenever any of the friends I have who bristle at either Obama or Bruce or both come to visit...

I want to go back in time and attend this White House party...

It's gracing my coffee table now ...

Nope. Graham Norton isn‘t my cup of tea. It’s invariably all about him and it seems to me too often he has little real interest in his guests.
Bring back Parky!

I mean if Judy or JoanFontaine post on that? Fuck off.

Kay (and others, of course), if you haven't seen this, you're going to love it. [SPOILERS: that was sarcasm; you are not, of course, going to love it.]
Also, preemptive apologies to those on here who still enjoy the old place.
On an even lighter note, this made me laugh.

I'm always up for a Book mostly of friction! I bet FBOTM will sell more copy's! 😀
This will look great on my book shelf, and even better out on the coffee table whenever any of the friends I have who bristle at either Obama or Bruce or both come to visit...
BTW, I am not advocating pre ordering from Badlands, I just copied & pasted their email!
Essential I’d say.
Looks amazing
