This is kind of a specialized post. I don't expect others to have had a similar experience, but it would be cool to hear otherwise.
I used to work with a guy named Mike, who passed away a couple years ago. He was really into cars and motorcycles. Loved to discuss both. And I was of no use in that regard. I can admire a 1950s T-Bird because of its remarkable looks, but I have no idea what's under the hood. So one day he asked, "If you could own any car ever made, what would it be?" My true answer would be "I dunno." But instead I shrugged and said "I guess, a '69 Chevy with a 396. Fuelie heads. Hearst on the floor." It was so funny to see his jaw drop. "BILL!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!!" Just for a second I became cool in his eyes. I fessed up in a hurry, and I can tell you that Mike the metal head briefly felt a bit of respect for Bruce Springsteen.
