Well, well, well. Stan Harrison has had some news for us in relation to what tweaks Bruce has made to the show.
So, there are three new songs:
"Fire", with Patti, replacing "Brilliant Disguise" - This is said to be "Smokin'!" and you know what? I bet it was. The highlight of the night for one person in attendance.
"American Skin" replaces "The Ghost of Tom Joad";
and "I'll See You in My Dreams" now ends the show, replacing "Born to Run", which is not featured.
In last night's rehearsal Bruce seemingly talked a lot about his mam, saying how while she can’t walk or talk anymore, she still reacts to his music ("She wants to dance!"), and this brought him to tears twice.
A two hour, twenty minute show, the stories were tweaked, but not overhauled, with Bruce talking about the last year's events, his radio show etc. "The show was different enough throughout, that even if you saw it before, you were still totally engaged."
GIMME A NEW SPECIAL @NETFLIX
“Jon suggested it and Patti sort of seconded his opinion and I’m like, 'It’s summer and I want to go to the beach because we're going to work a lot next year'”
I know I can't, but I want to go again...
I love this guy.
That's so interesting. Can't wait to see what people going think about those changes! 'Fire' must be so much fun in that duet
On one level, I've made my peace with....pretty much everything.
On another level, I kind of feel incomplete without having been part of this.
I was betting to meself that if Bruce played one new song during this run it would defo be I'll See You In My Dreams. So, so damned fitting.
I'm going to wait for my third time lucky.
Dropping the signature tune, biography namesake, SOB punctuation and benediction point is interesting... this was just a rehearsal, I'd be intrigued to see whether Bruce thinks it worked. I would not be 100% surprised to see it put back in once the actual show launches. Having said that, I hope not at the expense of Dreams... I think he could just add that after BTR at the end of the show. No story needed, it speaks for itself.
That sounds like a fresh new start! Was a fan of round 1, but I'm open for round 2.
