Why not? Burgers and beer? Mexican and tequila?
Who else is in the Southern California area? @Buddhabone, you're north of L.A. right? Whereabouts? I forget exactly. I thought someone else mentioned San Diego, but that may have been on the lake. I'm in the Inland Empire, an hour or so from everywhere, and I could use a good ride and some Bruce talk.
Also, ladies may also attend because we are modern lads who lunch. Or we will be if we become lads who lunch.
I am thinking we should meet half way and have lunch, maybe Oxnard?? What do you think @Jerseyfornia ???
Adam, I am going to postpone. My apologies. Sunday was a nightmare with an inexperienced helper and there's no way service will be successful this Sunday if I'm not there. I'm hiring this week, will get a new breakfast guy trained and plan a day that I don't have to back out of.
@Jerseyfornia We will make it happen. Let me know.
Well, here's a warning that I may have to postpone. I've just lost one of my top guys due to health issues. I pretty much carry brunch and he was the only guy I had who worked the brunch line with me. I'm not postponing yet. I'm training two of my guys for brunch this weekend with the intent that they and one other helper can cover for me and do it to my standards. I'm a pretty severe judge of eggs. This is pretty much the nature of my job, with sudden chaos interrupting my life. I'm still planning on the 6th, but wanted to let you know in case.
Okay, I've cleared my shift for the 6th and I'm looking forward to the ride and getting to hug Brother Buddha.
I've got an email address for Steve. Anyone who wants to join us for a zoom chat can send me an email at chefrickholeman@yahoo.com or rickholeman1966@gmail.com and I'm sure we can figure it out on our phones.
Adam, I'll email you in a couple days and you can let me know where we should meet and eat. My treat. No fancy schmancy food, bro. Let's eat something good and down to earth and beer friendly.
Wow, I would love to meet you on the Promised Land. Someday in the future I hope. Have a nice time and if some day you want to do an online meeting I will be there. And also I want to tell you that Im preparing a 1 episod podcast in the University radio for the forum.
@Buddhabone how do you feel about June 6 in your neck of the woods?
Wow, I can’t believe it took this long to plan one of these. I’m actually super jealous, I feel like the California life has been calling me lately.
I hope you have a great time! I look forward to the photos.
I am happy to plan for whenever. I have been fully vaccinated.
@Buddhabone, I haven't forgotten about this, bro. Just gotta get past Easter brunch and I can map out Sundays a little easier.
@Buddhabone what do you think about Sunday, May 23? That gives me enough lead time to not worry about missing a brunch and also some time to see how we're doing with COVID infections?
Ought to let you know, I'm still not down with indoor dining. It makes me anxious all day at work and when I go out, I still sit outside.
But wear ten masks cuz I'm likely to hug you.
When my high school friends and I meet for lunch we call ourselves the Romeos--Retired Old Men Eating Out.
As far as meeting halfway, I'll leave that up to you, but I don't mind the ride at all. In fact, I'll relish it. It's pretty nice up there where you live and my plan is to take a Sunday off, which gives me my two regular days off Monday and Tuesday. So I've got plenty of time to ride and might even get an air bnb on the coast.
If you can stand me once we meet, we can hit up some SoCal shows when Bruce comes out to play again.
They say grey really pops on Zoom, so we should come across handsome as hell.
my beard is longer, I look like a guru now.
We're no Barack and Bruce, but I think me and Adam will look good on zoom.
Two Hearts live from California, all the rest of us via Zoom... Is this the new plan?
Even if its 3am my time, I'd love to join if possible?
I am not working, but am raising two puppies...I think a weekend day would be good. I am thinking we could meet half way, maybe L.A.
I was in San Diego for over a decade, but I'm up in Portland now.
