@Mario Brega It's a routine now... I buy the show, listen to the show once or twice, and wait for your review. Then I read the review and listen to the show again, reflecting on what you had pointed out. And I hear the details that remained unnoticeable to me before. 😊
@Louisa Never did I think these write-ups would be part of a weekend schedule when I first published the Grand Rapids one three years ago. I'm glad they've made a nice little difference!
Sitting here moved...just gutted by his humanity and beautiful singing.
Then the original theme of the D&D tour emerges as I drove from Santa Barbara home up the coast as the sun kept sinking as the evening haze took hold. Those lost connections and travel, how we lose and then learn to accept the loss, the distance is unreachable. I lost my Mom too in May. So many songs about Moms and Sons. Losing and getting back.
Iceman into Incident is one of the greatest things I have ever heard him do. The performance is one of the treasures I never knew of before here. I always wanted to love the boots but the sound was so bad. Real World, my god. Reno is raw and close in feeling to so many things for me. I have been down that road in the past.
@Scott Peterson I believe the idea is brilliant. Making love while you truly and profoundly love someone is such a diametral mind-blowing contrast compared to paid sex with a prostitute.
I visualize the song, as I often do, and the transition between the happening in the hotel room to the Valle de dos Rios, what he is reminiscing about while receiving a blow job... And then her voice calling him back to the room... I think it's an excellent piece of writing.
@1651997 If I'd ever paid attention to the song through to the last two verses, it would have happened a long time ago. That's a song that's never grabbed me before, a frequent skip over. I actually wasn't going to play it, but Bruce's intro at the end of Maria's Bed grabbed me and I just let it play through and actually listened to every word. All the power of the song is in the last two verses. I get it. I didn't have a silver palomino; I imagined my mother's spirit on the wind and I've been running from it and chasing it ever since.
Like I told Mario in an email, what a wonderful thing to be forty years into Bruce's music and there are still aha moments to be had.
Great setlist, I don't think I've ever listened to this one. Nice surprise, and it's always great to get a 2005 show. Love me some 'Leah' and 'Maria's Bed'! Gonna buy it now
Yeah, I've been very pleased with all the 2005 releases, and I'd be delighted with another dozen. But I think this is the first I didn't already have, and the others were generally already in excellent quality, so this is an extra nice bonus.
I'm wandering through the tracks. Tonight, I'll listen to the show from top to bottom.
I know I'm one of the few in this world who prefers full-band Real World to the legendary Christic solo version, but it's not that I don't also love the piano version. I find this version better than the Christic performances; it's a little smoother where the there was a bit of over-singing in 1990. Getting two versions of Real World in the last handful of releases...grateful.
Iceman is fantastic and so is Incident. I like the guy shouting "thank you" when it's over and when Bruce tells the crowd, "sit down, you're too easy."
Part Man, Part Monkey is always welcome, electric or acoustic.
I too like the full-band Real World, but I'm one of the many who prefers the Christic versions. I do see why you would prefer the 2005 versions with the key lowered, his voice is a lot smoother and it sounds more mature to me. Can't wait to listen to that one and Wreck On The Highway.
@1651997 I think this is the first time I've heard a 2005 version. I was slowing down on collecting bootlegs by this tour. You're right, it sounds more mature. Definitely smoother. The Christic version is a classic. I can't argue that. Like most of you, it's the first version I ever heard and it's great. But his singing on it always left me feeling like he was reaching for a little more power than solo piano could offer, like maybe he was searching for a band. He sounds a lot more comfortable in the song's skin this time around.
The studio version, with all the bells and whistles...that's the song on Human Touch that grabbed my soul first.
I've finally finished this, and finally stopped listening to the show... to play Roy Orbison's "Windsurfer"...

A great show, great to share it with you all.
May I say something about Reno without getting terribly misunderstood?
Reno... I need to travel there just to have sex with someone I'm not in love with.
I'm apologizing if this is inappropriate, but this song is killing me... How is it possible that so many miss the point...
Real World... It's like a balm to the soul, isn't it?
Sweet Jesus, the way he breaths at the beginning of Devils...
I am thrilled. I went to sleep a bit disappointed.... I have just woken up to see that we have another gorgeous 2005 show...
Best morning news possible.
Just had my first full listen. That was a fantastic show, from the opening unobtainable reward to the closing endless dream.
He's in good form the whole show...but.
Iceman into Incident.
wow.
Of course, there's a remedy for all this melancholy.
Look over yonder see the party lights
C'mon, doll, we'll go ramroddin' tonight...
Well, I've finally connected with Silver Palomino...to the point of tears.
What a weird release time, but I'm here for it! 😁

Wreck On The Highway is so mournful and stately.
I had given up on today, but that's a pretty nice setlist.
