I've read that also, plus seen footage of Bruce talking about it in some type of 'history of rock' doco. I think the story went that Chuck just said 'play for the money, boys' except Bruce and the band weren't being paid a cent for the backing band part of the gig
I think I remember reading that, back in the early 70ās, Bruce and the band opened for Chuck Berry. Which meant they were his back up band that day. If I remember correctly, the first time they even saw Chuck Berry that night was already on stage for the performance... Or did I dream this?
"Just saying". What does that imply? ....Does that means I shouldn't have posted an old clip? Why would posting this clip detract from a new song? Perhaps this is an unwritten rule I'm not aware of?
Hey ho rock n roll!!!!
Bruce tells the story in the great, great documentary "Chuck Berry: Hail! Hail! Rock ,n, Roll." A wildly entertaining movie.

I love how Bruce looks at him as if he can't really believe he's playing with him.
Where is the right thread
Dan... There's a fresh Sprinsteen song out today... Just saying...
Still the greatest rock and roll song ever written
