Cool interview with Jon Landau on Backstreets about the whole Broadway thing.
Key take out... they would like to release something 'in a more modest fashion' than a movie from this run of shows. Original SOB album re-released with bonus tracks? Unlikely for mine, as that breaks the whole idea it is a self enclosed single show to be experienced in its entirety. New SOB album part 2 as an official physical release? Again, for me unlikely as that would possibly not return enough to make a decent dollar above the costs of actually producing the product these days. So I think a Nugs release in due course, with maybe a bigger media splash to go with it trying to raise an awareness with audiences beyond the Bruce die-hards that there is a whole series of live Bruce recordings ready to be enjoyed via that medium. Win win for both Bruce Inc and Nugs.
I thought it was this same interview, but quickly scanning it I can't see it.. but an excerpt from some interview I've read the last few days included JL confirming definitely no extension beyond the current run of shows. The theatre they are in will not be available, and there is no interest on their part to re-adapt the show to another venue.
That may be so, but I suspect this is not the end of SOB or a show in similar format. If the time comes when E Street either can't or won't tour but Bruce still has the chops and desire to do so, I could see a version of this either as a few month residency somewhere in Europe, or maybe an actual tour. I guess hoping it comes to the Sydney Opera House in Oz is a step too crazy...
Just as well I'm not planning on going, apparently the AZ vaccine doesn't cover you for this as it isn't approved for emergency use in the US. I hope Rachel has Pfizer.
@whispered secret I really hope this policy doesn’t get adopted all over the US. And I hope they reconsider sooner rather than later. I understand the US doesn’t want people in when they’ve had questionable vaccines. But the AZ vaccine works - I’m pretty sure the main reason the FDA didn’t approve it was safety concerns - that people might get clots. This has NO risk for other people, just the people who got the shot. To not allow those people into theatres is senseless.
Adam Ant has a couple shows in California in October, and I have tickets for those (rescheduled from the start of the pandemic.). Will he be Allowed in? I’m sure he and his band all had AZ. 🙄
I posted on the other place, that i actually got a ticket for one of the shows in september. It felt weird there being tickets for Bruce and not trying and next thing I knew I had bought one. I was just so desperate after everything this year to have something to look forward to and I feel like buying this ticket has just made me feel even more sad because its going to break my heart when I have to sell it. I just so badly want to go and I’m praying with everything in me that I’ll be able to. The other part of me isnt even sure because nothing feels right anymore, and I had such good experiences with the last Broadway run, I’m not sure I want to tarnish the memories that I have with the stress over Covid and vaccines and tickets. I really don’t know what to do.
I didn’t have much interest the first time around....now, if plays a Broadway Theater with the E Streeters and played the Letter to You album and a couple other nuggets....sign me up!
No interest in this now, even if there was the possibility of crossing the Atlantic. If it’s good for him that’s fine with me, tho’ hoping it’s not being revived to fill time as a result of a bout of writers block or worse.
If I see another poster on Greasy say over and over and over that the well has run dry every single time SOEMTHING is new I may combust meself. So ignorant to not be fond of it and phrase it that way, let's see anyone of those fuckers script their own Broadway show and asked for it to be returned for New York's opening after a once in a century pandemic. Disgusting.
@Kay Problem is that those fuckers that do script their own Broadway shows have better things to do than analyzing Bruce Springsteen's every career step through a microscope.
This won't be a joke, but it looks like it. I have laughed with a certain point of despair. Well, it's not really that this affects me much, especially in the summer months that I will be able to occupy myself with other diversions, but as they have already commented before, I do worry about how this could displace the real surprises. I want to think not long, just a couple of months.
If he'd asked me—and, oddly, he didn't—I would have told him this wasn't my first choice of things for him to do. But obviously whatever makes him happy is fine with me. And there are worse things than him getting back in live shape in this manner.
This thread is making me miss Marsha all over again. We would be texting each other moaning about the moaners over on the oily pond and I'd be holding my breath for the chance of her getting a ticket.

I look in there there occasionally to check Rach's Marhsa thread for updates.
I made the mistake of reading the SoB thread.
I don't want this post to have a "Lord Voldemort" effect so I'll just say........oh dear.
So... Same music, same talking, not part 2 by any chance? He's going to put me through similar anguish once again. He'll keep prolonging it at least until Christmas, and I'll regret not going until I die. @Mario Brega tempted this time around? 🙂
Well a lot of events have transpired since December 2018. Some involving topics that shaped the original show. I expect changes to the script, maybe an alternative song or too. It'll be interesting to see if he retains "Long Walk Home" and/or "The Ghost of Tom Joad", and while I can kinda guess what his monologue would be beforehand, I'm intrigued to hear how it differs.
I am tempted, hahaha, but I know I won't be going and I'm fine with that. What irked me in 2017/18 was that nothing was really going on for us who weren't there with the exception of one Archive release a month (feels pretty greedy saying that now). I also didn't know if I'd get an official release of the Broadway show too, which kinda added to the 'shut out' feeling. Since then there's been two albums, a couple of specials and so many Archive releases that right now I'm taking them for granted in the sense of not really being excited about them. It's actually the blog reviews that are keeping me properly invested and unless I get properly burnt out in the next few weeks or months, I don't think I'll find myself ruing the fact I've missed out again when so many others attended. I've seen 0.00000000001% (at a push) of Bruce's live shows, so what's another zero added to that anything to be sad about?
As always, sorry for rambling. I finished my Uncasville #1 review tonight and immediately started #2, so I'm in a bit of a writing mood 😁
Another batch of Broadway shows...I guess it's good news for the locals with a desire to hear acoustic versions of his old songs. From my perspective it's four wasted months given he still has it in him to write new songs or do some other productive work. On the other hand, if his songwriting days are over, then spending his time performing old songs is probably one of the best things for him to do,
There are several things I would prefer him to do but, whatever he does will be in America for the time being, so it doesn't really impact on us over here.

Rachel posted 12 hours ago that they've reconsidered. Other vaccines are ok.

Imagine yourself two joints gone and coming across this headline.
For a moment there, I had no fucking idea what Bruce had gotten himself mixed up in.

I just wrote a post about this on the Tell Me about your Spouse thread. And I’m not going to this, as I explain over there.
As AJ says, any live event any time soon is going to be east coast U.S. I'd imagine so doesn't impact on us UK peeps directly.
Whether it pushes back a new album or a "proper" tour, who knows.
At the end of the day, he's earned the right to do whatever the fuck he wants.
He owes me nothing, he owes nobody anything.

I would absolutely love to go, but unfortunately, it won't be possible... No problem though, I hope everyone going has the time of their lives!
I really want to go.
Checking flights.
Seriously.
I apologize sincerely, there is a difference. The first time you needed to be verified, now you need to be vaccinated. 😀

Now I understand the delay in the Archive release. They were working on finalizing this.

Love to go but sadly.......ain't happening.
