Dove into this sucker again last night, so much so that when I awoke this morning the chorus wouldn't leave my skull - good sign when a song gets so stuck like that. This song is a perfect example of when a song achieves supreme greatness nearing the end, it's almost astonishing just how good the latter part of the song is. Hearing this blasting on the radio or in the car driving I know for a fact will have some of my friends declaring Bruce as a pure Rock God, nothing less. Also, Letter To You played on repeat for a while last night too, the music is what is winning for me in these two songs, that and Bruce voice on Letter, so bloody strong.

Though adding to that, I think the next show period if it happens will be emotional, tour too but opening show will be fraught with emotions I presume - for the band and the fans.

I can't stand The Killers save for a couple of tunes but one band Bruce fans seem to really love that I wasn't keen on but growing into a bit of a fan is War On Drugs. The more I hear some of the non-radio tracks the more I hear the greatness.

Mellencamp in interviews make me laugh my ass off, he is so freaking funny. And self-deprecating is right, makes fun of himself all the time. The sincerity of it all makes it funnier.

I've heard one new Ben Harper track and it is tremendous. Does instrumental normally do it for me, not really, but this one song sure did. He's so good though, not surprising.

What is a travel sloth, exactly? Kinda like the sound of that, I might be one too, don't travel a lot except to see Bruce, get to see different cities and my fave artist so win-win. My plans were to do exactly what the tour dictated insofar flying to cities that were more affordable to travel to, still don't have the money so not sure how I was going to do that exactly but if there's a next one, I'm there, somehow.

Dunno 'bout anyone else but I'll keep deciding for myself what I would like to do, whether that's scroll on by or address a point - we're all different so will do different things. Sad to hear this news. We had a mixed relationship, got along great a lot of the time and then snarked and fought like hell most other times. So terribly sad for his family.

I can see where you don't like this TJ, just based on reading your tastes over the years. If it doesn't speak to you then it doesn't, the lyrics on this one don't do much for me at this point but thumps up on the song in almost every other aspect. You've spelled out clearly why you don't like it, that's much more than it "sucks" - though nothing wrong with that either, my biggest gripe is when people give a nice analysis of why they don't like something and someone comes along and tells us we're "overthinking" it. How do they know what we're doing, they are simply uncomfortable with us not taking to it. How does one overthink something in music anyway? If we don't like it, we normally have reasons why, there's no overthought involved.

Thumps up on this sucker. Not in a lyrical sense really, not sure they do much for me at this point, but the beautiful melodies and the hooks-a-plenty with a great chorus are enough for me - it's gonna sound damn fine when I'm in an altered state and crank it as loud as I can.

I didn't remotely take it as a dig so no worries, I do not mind whatsoever being pointed out to that King is far from a horror writer exclusively, also I phrased it wrong as I was well aware he's written some short stories and other stuff that aren't in the horror "genre," and if I thought someone thought all Bruce was good for was Born In the USA and beefcackey arms then I'd have some pointing out to do myself. Guess more where I'm coming from too is that every single movie I've seen based on one of his books was considered horror and I haven't enjoyed one. Carrie, Cugo, Gerald's Game, etc. And that includes Misery. Might think differently about that one if I watched it today however than a bazillion years ago.

Dunno if I've ever been in such a huge minority but consider me a non-fan of Stephen King. Don't get it, don't enjoy horror, and that's that. Though certainly didn't know about a Clarence reference. King is quite the music fan however, didn't he tweet about Justin Townes Earle's death before most of the media?

Weird, for some reason now I can read this one, as soon as they put up the paywall, nothing seemed free, meaning no five free articles for the month, like other sites. But hey, this one is in full text so that is swell.

This new subscription thing is going to piss me right off, though I understand the need for it in the world of today. But not my music info site!

Love all three of these guys, which adds icing to the cake of fandom, tons of artists I love, love Bruce and have been inspired by him. Impeccable taste they have if I do say so myself.

Perfect thread for me to mention my latest pet peeve that I cannot get over - RS put up a paywall. Have had to mourn this quite seriously. I couldn't understand why Scott when you posted an article on Greasy about Patti I couldn't read the full damn article and it was making me insane. Then I saw. As upset as I am, don't blame them really, things change so much it probably just wasn't sustainable anymore. A year subscription ain't that bad really but I'm so poor right now I can't even afford a nickel sandwich.

@Scott Peterson I forgot all about "I'll Never Be Your Maggie May!" Now that is a tune that slipped right outta my brain cell memory - hilarious. Your post ain't too much info at all, in fact this is why I love like minded music fans so much, learn tons of great musical nuggets. Interesting too in her evolution, meaning that my other beloved Canadian folkie, Amelia Curran (mentioned elsewhere I can hear the comparisons now), also went a little rock after having put out already a number of albums, still the folk-inspired writing and style but some added instruments. They gotta not get bored like every other artist. I've not stopped listening to this beautiful mutha of a song MagicRat, this is something so truly special, now I can hear comparisons some of my friends have made to my beloved Amelia Curran, another folkie so full of depth you wouldn't think things could get that deep. What's funny is that when I was doing my Vega spinning I was also thinking that if she were releasing songs today such as In Liverpool, Book of Dreams or even Marlene on the Wall, I don't think radio would touch her like they did back in the day, so she might fly under my radar today if I were relying on mainstream radio to deliver my quality music. Weird in a way when you think how progressive in a sense radio used to be, when I heard Left of Center the other day it was on community radio where they can spin what they like.
