In I don't wanna go home
A week ago we said goodbye to our sweet dog Chloe. She was just over 13, and had lived with health problems the last year. Luckily for us, the pandemic kept us home so we could give her the full attention she needed (hand feeding sitting up on our laps, carrying her for 20 minutes after every meal, picking her up after every drink so it would go down, etc.) Even with all that, she was happy and would go for her walks, run around playing, barking and cuddling. She was our first dog, and a perfect little companion to all of us. My husband carried her more than anyone, and she used to sleep beside him on the desk while he worked on the computer. He feels her loss very deeply. The vet (COVID restrictions) allowed one person to be with Chloe at the end, and hold her, and that was me.

In Confess your infidelities
I used to like Backstreet Boys when my kids were little and listening to them. So now it’s come to light that Brian Littrell (one of their best singers at the time) is on Parler and is a 45 supporter. What an ass.

In Confess your infidelities
I may have mentioned before that I follow Adam Ant - I knew his stuff a bit in the early 80’s, but rediscovered him in 2012 and really started to appreciate him then. I’ve seen in him concert many times since (49, to be exact). He’s had an interesting life, with huge stardom early on, but also big crashes here and there due to mental health - but since the middle 2010’s, his shows have been amazing.
He usually tours UK and then the US/Canada, and I would see shows in both places, touring around and doing sightseeing as well as the shows. Late last year, we chose shows in north (maybe it was mid?) England, in Manchester, Liverpool, Hull, York and Blackburn. Great chance to see York and Hull for the first time, both of which I loved.
Anyhow, Adam had a US tour planned for this past spring, May 2020, and we had great tickets for the west coast. Portland, Oregon and several shows along the coast, ending in San Diego. Was going to be excellent. Of course those shows didn’t happen. They were rescheduled for September 2020 - optimistically early, I thought at the time - and they were soon moved again, to May of next year, 2021.
Now they’ve been cancelled altogether. Really, May is only 5 months away. These are shows where you stand at the stage, all crushed together. Just not happening. 😞

In Movies and Books
I keep an ongoing list of books that I’ve heard are good, though I don’t keep track of who made the recommendation. A few weeks ago, I started reading “On Earth We‘re Briefly Gorgeous“ by Ocean Vuong, one of the books on the list.
It started fine, though somewhat sad, about the relationships between the protagonist and his mom and his grandmother, with some hitting and some bullying at school. It was very sensitively written and I was enjoying it, but then it ventured into a chapter with horrific animal abuse. Well, once I saw what was happening, I closed the book, and said, “done”.
My life is too short to read stories about that - I do not need to add more things to my life that upset me. Anyone else?

Ok, maybe not the magazine we all want to think is appropriate for our best guy, but here‘s an interview just published. And the photos are beautiful. https://www.aarp.org/entertainment/music/info-2020/bruce-springsteen-letter-to-you.html?intcmp=AE-HP-TTN-R2-POS2-REALPOSS-TODAY
