I don't know what to do about the prediction league on the old GL. Ken, who runs it, has emailed to say he would be willing to email the games each week and I could email my predictions for him to post. That seems like it's putting him to extra work which isn't really necessary.
There is nothing stopping me visiting the old place once a week myself but, whilst I have been busily telling other people they don't have to choose, I feel I have chosen and I have chosen here.
None of the other prediction league participants have joined here as yet and, even if a couple of them did, I don't think we have enough people interested in English football to make it work here.
I am not really expecting answers, just thinking out loud!
I have told Ken I will do the GL prediction league again this season. Not doing it felt like cutting off my nose to spite my face!
As some of you might have noticed, I've had no reservations posting yesterday's new blog on there and responding to some feedback on my Guides thread.
Aside from that I'm unlikely to get involved in any major discussions that I can otherwise do on here, but there's no harm in the odd post. Our Greasy Lake For Us cards aren't going to be revoked.
I've checked out the rumours thread a couple of times the last week, but that's it. I'm of the same mind as Bosstralian, really, and I try to think that most of the members themselves aren't the problem. It's the mods. (Sort of like my job in the last year, it's the ones in charge that are complete and utter fuckheads, not my collegues or the students).
I'm wary of posting at the Lake again, not sure I'll ever do that again.
I will save any future logins at GL for emergencies. I told the mods I wouldn't come back after my This Lake thread and I like to keep my word. Besides, they don't like me anymore.
Although I don't know how it will unfold, I have been selling the sports forum around here, and I think we will soon have new fans who are interested in English football. Anyway, the old forum is more rolled, have fun there if it makes you happy!
I agree, I wandered over to the old stomping ground the other day and saw the next round of that 'favourite song on each album' poll was up and I had no hesitation in voting as it's been fun. Posting on there however... we'll see.
I don't think you're under an obligation to yourself unless you truly feel that strongly about it. Go play the game. Think of it as driving over the state line to buy some liquor. Being here should not deprive anyone of anything else they enjoy.
