@Dr. Zoom We have a couple of rescues from Romania.
They're both mutts, one of them was so badly traumatised that he still can't touch him or get a collar on. We took him cos he bonded with the other fella who we'd already agreed to take. He's house trained and we have a decent sized garden, so he gets to run and sniff there.
We're making progress but it's slow, slow work.
The dog we originally took is called Pino (that's the name he had in Romania) the other fella came to us as "unnamed white dog", so I called him Clarence.
We also dog sit a neighbour's chocolate lab called Bailey, he's a wrecking ball but the friendliest dog ever. His owner lives alone and works long hours so he's basically our third dog.
I'd never be without a dog now, are you a dog parent?
Sounds like a nice thing you have there, dogs are really good family members. It must be so good for Clarence to have one dog buddy. Not a dog parent myself... yet, anyway. We had 2 rescue cats for 13 years, the last one was put to sleep in March. I grew up with dogs, so naturally I'd like one again. Wifey's a cat person so we'll have to see how that works out, I've given an ultimatum: no dog, no cat. And dog first. Preferably an Irish Wolfhound, but I know that's never going to happen (as long as I'm married, anyway ;) - but they're just the gentlest, kindest dogs imaginable, in my opinion one of the more suitable breeds for non-dog-people (if that's a word). Wouldn't mind a mutt, though - what's important is how the dog is.
Some of the footage that I've seen from over there is comparable to the incredible scenes we saw across Australia last summer.
The extent of ours last summer was unpredented in well recorded history. We get stories about California wild fires every year here, this seems a level up from that.
Nothing further to add.. I'm derailing a photo thread.
