Been listening to Bowie recently. Earl Slick rightly recognised. Did think about Robbie Robertson, marshalling the Band behind Dylan mid-sixties thru Rolling Thunder. Got his autobio on the bedside table which should give his perspective on this when I eventually get to it.
Here's something that's always blown my mind: Dennis Davis played drums on many of David Bowie's biggest and best stuff, from "Fame" through "Ashes to Ashes" and "Fashion" and almost everything in between, including "Heroes." He also played with Iggy Pop and George Benson and Smokey Robinson and Stevie damn Wonder. And yet he never gets talked about and doesn't seem to have had much of a career past the mid-80s and I don't get it.
