I should probably post this in the sports forum but then nobody would read it!
So, here goes. R.I.P Trevor Francis, the only world class player to wear a Birmingham City FC shirt (at least until Jude Bellingham came along recently). Trevor was a hero of mine and Dave's and I clearly remember his debut, his goals and his skill.
He liked his music too and I have an early memory of going to Barbarellas night club in Birmingham to see Jimmy Ruffin. Trevor was there, at the bar, drinking rum & blacks, even though everyone in Birmingham knew he was only 16!
Anyway, there is a Bruce connection. He was introduced to Bruce's music by Tom Ross, a local DJ and they spent time listening to and discussing Bruce's songs. They went together to the show at Villa Park a few days before Trevor flew off to Spain, where he had a heart attack and died just over a week ago.
I am not sure he counts as a celebrity fan, but he does to me.
