I had most of the early Whitesnake records when I was a teen, but the band didn't become popular until I was coming off the road. Interesting that the biggest hit he co-wrote - Here I Go Again - wasn't a hit in its original release on 1982's Saints & Sinners. It was a massive worldwide hit after being re-recorded and released on 87's huge Whitesnake album. I hope he made a lot of money for his writing credit, as his guitar wasn't featured ont he hit version. His other big hit - Fool For Your Loving - was also only a hit after being re-recorded and released in 89.
For my money, Here I Go Again and Crying In The Rain are both better in their original versions on Saints & Sinners.
