Forrest Gump/Bob Seger - Coincidence? Can't be?

I'm watching Forrest Gump tonight. A few minutes ago, during Forrest's running period, this scene came on, with Bob Seger's Against The Wind as the music.

The landscape struck me in a very odd way as familiar, but not from the times I've seen the movie before. I felt like the guy in Close Encounters staring at Devil's Tower. Then it hit me and I thought, no, couldn't be, so I pulled up this album cover.

This can't be a coincidence, can it?

Hey, you are a movie tragic. Can you confirm whether there is a whole other more subtle layer of history and pulp culture references waiting to be discovered in Forrest Gump akin to what JF noticed above? Fark me, if C3PO and R2D2 somehow appear in that movie and I've never known it I'm going to lose my nut.

Indeed. All the obvious ones where Forrest pseudo comically encounters or gets involved in historical moments are great fun, but there may be a whole other level of more subtle Easter eggs like this hidden in the movie waiting to be found.

Not too long ago a brilliant album by album thread on Bob Seger's music came to an end on SHF. I really enjoyed following it. This was posted in reference to the cover and the consensus was, yes, it's definitely no co-incidence.

Well I just played the album about four days ago and saw the movie tonight. I can't find anything online about a connection, but I tweeted Bob Seger. He won't answer, but I've got to know about this weirdness.
