So today sees the end of the greatest show in the world for another 4 years, despite all the naysayers it has been a resounding success all the way. FIFA deserve great credit for once again taking the tournament to a new part of the world and doing a great job in promoting and expanding the game, the benefits will clearly be seen for many years to come.
The Final..too close to call and a win for either would bring me joy in some form..so lets hope for an entertaing high scoring match.
God here we are days later and they are all still bleating on about the match officials, I rest my case. Obviously cryogenics was not advanced enough in the 1960`s so that they could have used the Russian Official at all their future games.
Just admit that you are simply not good enough and move on, without all the over the top hype. .
Speaking personally, it's a football rivalry. I know a lot of Scots take it further, into some quasi-political places, but, just like I'm aware that not all of the English electorate are jingoistic brexiteers, I'm aware that not all England supporters are "Ingurland/ten German bombers" types.
I like watching local rivals lose, dread them having success......that's the beginning and end of it.
When Peter Withe shinned the winner in the 81 European Cup final, were you and Mr J celebrating? 😁
I'm pulling for Morocco now, due to the underdog nature of their story and also due to Aberdeen cult hero, the late Hicham Zerouali.
But I stuck a tenner on Argentina at the outset and business is business.
That's a fair point. The only team I really, really dislike is Villa. I don't especially dislike any national team, although there are some I like more than others, but I would support Scotland, Wales or Ireland unless they are playing England.
I agree that a lot of England supporters are not very nice people, in fact we stopped being members of the England supporters club because we got so pissed off with the chants/attitudes etc. I think that's why, actually I don't think, I know, that's why the Women's victory in the summer was, for me, my best footballing moment, even better than Blues promotions (always go straight back down again anyway) or Carling Cup win.
I've never really understood the hatred from Scottish football supporters of England.
I am sad but not surprised that England have gone out, it's just what we do, every time.
I like this squad very much, of course Bellingham is my favourite player and he will have many more opportunities.
Half my family are Argentinian, but I just can't bring myself to support them, even though my adored great nephews were cheering them in wearing their Messi shirts!
Of course you should like your team, and really there is no win here, I was just trying to illustrate how much the media/press etc alienate other countries, and still they cant/wont understand why they are disliked so much. Last night before the Argentina v Croatia semi-final was a perfect example, england are out and were not playing, the programme had 45 minutes before the kick-off, 30 of those minutes were spent talking about england, and in the end they decided that only 2 maybe 3 of the Argentina or Croatia players would be good enough to make the england team, a perfect example.
Well that's clearly bollocks!
Back to who is actually left in, I think Argentina & France are the two best teams and, whilst I can't help cheering Morocco on, I am expecting a final between the two best teams.
Please as I was to see the horrible Kane missing the pen, this current squad are nowhere near as dislikeable as past versions (even if that Mason Mount goes down like a Polaris sub) but Lee Dixon, Rio Ferdinand, Ian Wright et al.....GIRFUY.
I can now get behind Morocco, currently inhabited by the spirit of Hicham Zerouali I reckon.
Pleased for Lionel Messi, reward for all he has given the game over the years....
He is now officially the second best Argentina player of all time.
Pity there had to be a loser...but at least the tournament ended with yet another landmark...the first ever legal hatrick scored in a World Cup Final.

Relieved as always.

Allez Les Bleus...the world are counting on today, so be sure you turn up.
Three Kittens and Two Donkeys versus a glorious Cockerel.
The Auld Alliance is today as strong as ever.
Which would be???
