Anyone who's enjoying this record should check out the rest of his music, including his two records with Don Julin. Julin is credited with discovering Billy. He's also the author of Mandolin For Dummies.
My favorites from Renewal are Love And Regret, Hellbender, Heartbeat of America and Nothing's Working. I love Running The Route.
Another new name for me, not the genre I usually listen to but enjoyed this very much the first time around. Was impressed with most of the lyrics, not just with the music. He is very talented.Love the fact that this is a recent album, and that AC is up to date and we play younger musicians. Thanks, Ann.
That's partly why I chose it. I am not going to pretend it is a favourite album. Nearly all my favourite albums are 30 odd years old (with the exception of Bruce) but I wanted something more up to date for the album club.
I first heard this album in January or February and straight away thought it was really enjoyable. I have always liked blue grass and I like the modern take on it which I think this album provides. Lyrically, I think it is interesting, certainly a more modern outlook than the blue grass music I am familiar with. I think they are an excellent bunch of musicians, although I know that style isn't to everyones taste.
I love bluegrass music, but it has to be either very traditional or something unusual. Billy Strings embodies the traditional and the unusual - I guess I think of him as unusually traditional. The kid looks like a rock star, sings like a lost cousin of Woody Guthrie or Hank Williams. I first heard him on his 2017 album Turmoil & Tinfoil and he blew me away. I haven't been so excited about bluegrass since Steve Earle teamed up with the Del McCoury Band. He plays bluegrass, but there's a lot of rock and roll in his guitar playing. Renewal just came out last September and I'm not as familiar with it as his previous records, but it's probably his best.

Show Me The Door is my favorite track.
